Alvéole has a sweet deal for you! We’re presently looking to fill positions on our honey extraction and production team in Montreal for 2025 beekeeping season. 

As an Extraction and Packaging Floor Lead, you will be in charge of:

Alvéole is seeking an Extraction Team Lead for the 2025 honey season. This role will see you managing and overseeing the honey extraction team, ensuring the smooth flow of daily operations, and delivering on quality control at every stage of production.You will collaborate with the management team to work within a schedule and to ensure all client orders are fulfilled on time.

As team lead, your role includes overseeing the extraction, jarring, labeling, and packaging of honey, as well as ensuring all logistical aspects—from receiving raw honey to shipping finished products—are efficiently handled. You will ensure all operations meet Alvéole’s standards and that production goals are met with accuracy and traceability through the use of internal data tools. You’ll work with mechanical equipment, troubleshoot issues, and be responsible for problem-solving challenges that arise in the extraction process. Your ability to motivate and manage your team will be key in achieving consistent, high-quality results within tight timelines.

  • Lead the Honey Extraction Process: Oversee the full honey extraction, jarring, labeling, and packaging process from start to finish, ensuring tasks are performed according to Alvéole’s standard procedures.

  • Team Management: Supervise and motivate a team of extraction workers. Maintain productivity and performance standards by fostering a positive and efficient work environment. Handle day-to-day performance management.

  • Accountability and Quality Control: Ensure that the extraction and packaging process adheres to high standards of quality and food safety. Monitor the effectiveness and quality of work in the extraction room to meet Alvéole’s expectations.

  • Timely Distribution: Oversee the honey production schedule with the goal of completing extraction by October 31st. Extract, label, jar and pack within the distribution schedule to ensure all clients’ orders are met on time.

  • Production Scheduling: Organize and manage daily extraction in alignment with the overall production goals. Utilize internal data tracking tools for accuracy, ensuring traceability and meeting production deadlines.

  • Operations: Support the Central Operations Coordinator to ensure the success of daily tasks and operational issues. Assist in the organization of freight shipments.

  • Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Monitor mechanical equipment involved in the extraction and packaging processes. Ability to think on your feet and solve any issues with machinery, equipment, or production to keep the operation running.

  • Metrics and Reporting: Maintain accurate data for all operations, including production metrics, team performance, and equipment status. Report on productivity, inventory levels, and any challenges encountered during the extraction process.

Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow all food safety and hygiene standards as outlined by Alvéole’s management team, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.

Skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience in leadership roles within a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Comfortable with hands-on work in a warehouse environment, including heavy lifting (up to 40lbs), operating mechanical equipment, and working in varying temperatures.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage a diverse team while keeping morale high and ensuring quality production.
  • Available to work regular hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) with no overtime required during the production season (June to October).

Working conditions

  • Comfortable with the reality of warehouse beekeeping hazards (stings, heavy lifting, hot indoor temperatures, etc.) 
  • Heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs)
